Once vision loss interferes with your everyday activities, such as driving, reading, or watching TV, you should seriously consider removing the cataract.
Surgery may seem nerve-racking to you. However, Mr Gangwani and his team will make your experience as comfortable as possible.
Cataract surgery is one of the most common eye operations performed. It’s also one of the safest and effective types of eye surgery
To ensure you’re as comfortable as possible during the procedure, Mr Gangwani will administer eye-numbing drops along with dilating your pupil before the surgery begins. If you have a phobia for needles, you would be glad to know that Mr Gangwani does not use any needles or injections for undertaking cataract surgery.
Mr Gangwani will then perform a micro incision cataract surgery, also known as Phacoemulsification, which is done using the latest technology. An intraocular lens or IOL for short then replaces the original cloudy lens that was removed. Once the IOL is placed in the eye, it requires no further care because it becomes a permanent part of your eye. .
Much like other kinds of surgery, cataract surgery does have risks, which are very rare. The most common of these are infection or bleeding. But, it’s essential to keep your eye clean as much as possible after surgery. This is achieved by washing your hands before touching your eye. Also, to make sure that you use any prescribed medications to help minimise any risk of infection.
